About me

A little more about me

I’m Gina, a biology graduate from Germany, currently studying Wildlife Biology and Conservation. Traveling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, but somewhere along the way it became much more than simply going on holiday.

For me, traveling means discovering places that feel completely different from home, spending as much time outside as possible and collecting the kind of experiences you still talk about years later. I love remote islands, mountains, wildlife encounters, unique places to stay and pretty much everything that involves a little adventure.

Adventures Abroad is where I share all of that – the places I discover, itineraries that actually work, travel tips I wish I had before going and experiences that are worth adding to your bucket list.

How it all started

I was lucky enough to start travelling very young. My family always encouraged my curiosity about the world, and some of my favourite childhood memories involve discovering new places together. That curiosity never really disappeared — it just got stronger.

Over the years, travelling became the thing I would constantly save for and look forward to. Alongside university, I worked different jobs to finance trips whenever I could, from short European getaways to island hopping and adventures further away.

At the same time, I discovered how much I enjoy photography, filming and writing. Adventures Abroad started as a place to collect those experiences. Today, I want it to become something more: a resource for anyone who wants to see more of the world, find unusual places and turn a trip into an actual adventure.

Quick facts about me

Planning the next trip before the current one is over

Dreaming about a diving certification

Taking too many photos and videos

Always looking for somewhere a little different

Wildlife will always be part of the story

My love for nature isn’t separate from my love for travelling — the two have always belonged together.

I studied Biology and I’m currently completing my Master’s degree in Wildlife Biology and Conservation. That background has changed the way I travel. I don’t only want to see beautiful places; I want to understand the landscapes, ecosystems and animals that make them special.

That’s why wildlife and responsible nature experiences will always have a place on Adventures Abroad — from whale watching in the Azores and marine adventures to hiking through wild landscapes and learning how tourism can interact with wildlife in a more responsible way.

And there is another chapter ahead: veterinary medicine is the direction I want to take next.

So, what's next?

2027 is going to be a big year for Adventures Abroad.

I’m planning to swap home in Germany for a few months of travelling — starting with a working holiday in Australia before heading through Thailand and Indonesia, with plenty of adventures along the way. Somewhere between diving, hiking, wildlife and probably far too many flights, I’ll be sharing the real itineraries, places, costs and experiences here.

After that? We’ll see. That’s part of the fun!
